Does anyone know some details about the training approach of the Norwegian speed skaters? How does it relate to the polarised training approach advocated by Fast Talk, Seiler, et al?
The new generation of Norwegian speed skaters is rising to the international top impressively, in particular in long distances and allround events. Of course, even the 5k and 10k are a lot shorter than most bike races, but very much aerobic nonetheless. What I’ve read is that the head coach (with partly Dutch roots) has introduced a switch away from the Norwegian volume-approach to a more high quality-approach, akin to the Dutch approach. I haven’t read any details about their training distribution, etc. Would be very interesting to find out more!
