Wearable sensor fabric to prevent injuries

I came across this article regarding smart fabrics being used to track movement and stress during competition and training.
NBA is turning to wearable sensor to prevent injuries

“…a portable, fabric-based form of force plate (in the shoe). Laid out under an athlete’s feet, the surface can be placed anywhere — and it tracks some impressive metrics simply though sewn-in fabrics, including jump height and time in the air; force, impulse and power of the jump; symmetry between legs; and forces applied at different phases of the jump.”

Of course there is far more money in the National Basketball League than in pro cycling. But I am curious if this type of smart fabric is being tried by cyclists, and if so how and to what end?
