Recovery from Iron Definciency Anemia

Does anyone have experience (or a pointer to a paper) on how to adapt training for an athlete (triathlete) diagnosed with Iron Deficiency Anemia , so low ferritin (10ug/L), low haemoglobin (<10g/L), low hematocrit (31%) levels?

Ban HIT until blood test and particularly Hg/Hematocrit are OK, but is LIT harmful and safe? How much to reduce training volume? Some sports are better than others? How long?
